The SPARC Dataset Structure has been submitted for endorsement as a community standard.
Call for Community Review through November 15th. Please share your feedback at https://www.incf.org/commentaries/sparc
The International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility (INCF) promotes the uptake of FAIR data management practices in neuroscience through the development of standards and best practices that support open, FAIR, and citable neuroscience. The INCF Standards and Best Practices Committee has evaluated the SDS (V2.0) against a number of criteria, including its adherence to FAIR data guidelines. They have opened the discussion to the public for review, and invites community feedback through November 15th, 2023.
The SDS is a consistent file structure and naming convention, based on the Brain Imaging Data Structure (BIDS), to ensure that the diverse types of data in SPARC are organized in a similar manner. SPARC accepts multiple different types of data derived from a variety of experimental approaches. Therefore, the SDS is a standard that can handle a wider variety of cases than those developed in many other domains.
If endorsed by INCF, the SPARC Dataset Structure will be the second standard enhanced for use by the SPARC Community. The MBF Bioscience Neuromorphological File Format was endorsed by INCF in 2022.
