Professional Development Workshop at the Society for Neuroscience Annual Meeting
Can I Reuse Public Data for a Grant Proposal? Exploiting Online Archives of Neuroscience Data for Non-Data Scientists
November 14, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Save the date: at Neuroscience 2026 in Washington, D.C., we're hosting a Professional Development Workshop on a question many bench scientists wrestle with — can existing public data support a new grant proposal?
"Can I Reuse Public Data for a Grant Proposal? Exploiting Online Archives of Neuroscience Data for Non-Data Scientists" will introduce AI-assisted tools and platforms from SPARC, the BRAIN Initiative, and HEAL that let researchers without deep coding backgrounds mine existing datasets for preliminary results, experimental planning, and new discoveries.
_Speakers:
Benjamin Dichter, PhD,
Founder of CatalystNeuro
Suparna Goswami, PhD,
Senior Research Scientist at the Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI)
Mike Halle, PhD
Instructor in Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital
Maryann Martone, PhD
Professor Emerita of Neuroscience at UC San Diego
Joost Wagenaar, PhD
Assistant Professor of Informatics in Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania
