FREEMIND is a free 12-month educational program in AI and data science that works with NIH-supported datasets. The program includes a two-week in-person bootcamp at UC San Diego, where participants receive hands-on training in programming (GitHub, Python), machine learning, FAIR data principles, and research ethics. Throughout the year, participants also receive ongoing mentorship to develop their own independent research projects. There are no tuition costs, and travel and housing support are provided for out-of-area participants, though no stipend is included.
